Tapentadol and tramadol are both opioid pain medications. Tramadol works by binding to opioid receptors and inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, providing pain relief. Tapentadol also binds to opioid receptors but additionally inhibits norepinephrine reuptake, offering stronger pain relief with a lower risk of serotonin-related side effects compared to tramadol.
